Muted and pale colors lend a subtle background for this cut-glass mirror. Reminiscent of an 18th Century French landscape – the viewer can almost imagine being transported to the quiet countryside in this elegant and peaceful mural.

Rather than paint just the niche, Michael Lee suggested expanding the effect of the European landscape to cover the entire wall. The client agreed and has no regrets as this wonderful background for the elegant mirror creates the feeling a more restful life.

The “in process” photo lets us see just how detailed the work is. Although Michael Lee knew that the mirror would cover a large portion of the niche, the work is “complete” in that what is not seen is as important as what is.

A feeling of texture – of an impressionist painting – of soft hues and rolling landscapes pulls the viewer into the work. It’s sensual and subtle and gives a feeling as well as a visual effect.

Gentle trees reach over the landscape, awash in quiet hues.
